UK travel agents entered into the spirit of Nevis' first Pirate Festival by dressing up as pirates and penning poems.

Nisbet Plantation recently held a competition among UK Travel Agents to get everyone into the spirit for Nevis' first annual Pirate Festival. Agents were asked to submit a pirate photo and a song.

WINNER!

Congratulations to Lorraine Allen of Kuoni World Class Team, who submitted the winning ditty and pirate photo in Nisbet Plantation's Pirate Competition.

Lorraine has won a fantastic holiday to Nisbet Plantation Beach Club including 7 nights for two people at Nisbet Plantation Beach Club on MAP, return flights with British Airways to St. Kitts and an onward boat transfer to Nevis courtesy of Nisbet.

There is a young lady at Kuoni, who one day thought ‘oh if only’
I could fly away one day on a big plane by BA.
She thought ‘where can I go? With warm turquoise sea and soft white sand.
Where history and culture go hand in hand?
She thought about shipwrecks and pirates and having fun
Also relaxing, unwinding and soaking up the sun
She picked up a World Class brochure and there clear for her to see
In the Caribbean section, is the place she has to be.
The Nisbet Plantation Beach Club on Nevis with history in its name!
Then she read further and discovered it’s fame
It was the ancestral home of Fanny Nisbet, Lord Admiral Nelson’s bride,
Very close to St Kitts, Just a short boat ride
She carried on reading about the Palms spa, and also discovered
That Antigua isn’t that far.
With the restaurant for breakfast and dinner, the Great House terrace for afternoon tea,
A cocktail at sunset, would she need a bigger bikini?
Well there is tennis and croquet and snorkelling off the beach,
Some sessions in the fitness centre – the bikini may just reach!
So she wrote this little ditty and hopes it is ok
And is all that is needed to win this fantastic holiday.
Well maybe this ditty will give her ‘If only’

Kate Smith’s Ditty

Sitting in the office, watching the Sunset Faraway
Dreaming where I could be, where I could fly, where I could stay
Suddenly it hit me, let’s fly to Nevis – with BA…

“Hiking through the rain forest, to view the sun set from Nevis Peak
I spot upon the golf course, a parrot’s black and shiny beak
The parrot started flying, to a boat on which it flew
Where the music and rum was flowing, and had pirates for its crew

The ship started sailing, towards the far and distant land
A plantation in the distance, with such white and shiny sand
Waters warm and crystal blue, with plantation and lanai suites
With a restaurant at the Great House which was the setting of the pirates feast

As the pirates enjoyed their shindig, they began to sing and dance
To the crowds that listened to their chanting, their hearts become enhanced

“Oooh the magical Leeward Islands, home to all things good,
The treasure that you find ‘ere, is everything that you should,
Follow me, me hearties, bring your parrots, your wives and your friends
Coz your holiday at Nisbet Plantation, you’ll wish will never end.”

Ahoy me hearties! I'll tell ye a ditty
