Community Commitment - Making a Difference
Nisbet Plantation Beach Club, a 36-room resort, has had
a major impact on the lives of many elementary school children
on the small island of Nevis. The hotel has "adopted"
local schools, filling library shelves with children's books,
providing computers and much more.
How You Can Help
Basic school supplies like colorful construction
paper, glue sticks, crayons, flash cards, playdough,
new books and puzzles are always welcome.
The science lab needs everything from
filter paper and rain gauges to anatomy models and science
video cassettes. For more significant donations and

Guests may bring supplies with them or
mail them to Florida (see address at bottom of page) where they will be shipped to Nisbet
Plantation. |
Nisbet's guests have received a great deal of satisfaction
over the years by participating and making contributions.
 Today the children are reading at a level two grades higher
than they were in 1999 when the program started.
The schools are still very much in need. The children need
bookshelves for their library as well as more books. They
also have a science lab with nothing except tables and chairs.
The Staff and Management have a wish list so
that Nisbet Plantation can help fill their greatest needs.
On December 1, Jamie Holmes, General Manager of Nisbet Plantation presented 20 cases of books to local Nevisian schools. This was the biggest book donation in the program’s history all thanks to efforts of one guest, Jan Owens. After visiting the resort last year Owens organized a book drive at Carthage College in Kenosha, Wisconsin, where she is a professor. “The program provides an excellent opportunity for anyone to help make a difference,” says Jamie.
